Well, 2013 was a momentous year for film and media in Lampeter, and Perygl Productions have worked hard to make it the one to remember! This is the last ever year for the department on the Lampeter campus with film and media being moved down to the Camarthern campus of the University of Wales Trinity St David.
Due to this fact, we decided to turn the end of year show in Lampeter into a celebration of over a decade of creative students passing through the department in this small Welsh village. Perygl Productions collaborated with the School of Creative Arts to put a mega show in the Victoria Hall in Lampeter on Thursday 11th July 2013 with students, lecturers and friends, past and present.
In an event hosted by David Roberts, some fun videos were shown including a fake news segment, some Cougar Films trailers, a sneak peak at the next Brighthorse and Darkstar film, a trailer for the upcoming film ‘Omelette’ from pNut, a fan made episode of Doctor Who starring lecturer Steve Gerrard and a show reel of all the work created this year, by students in the film and media department.
After some fun and jokes, lecturers Dr Robert Shail, Dr Steven Gerrard and Mr Trevor Harris spoke a few words about their time in Lampeter. This was an emotional point in the evening. The also announced that the ‘Conti Family Prize in Film and Media 2013‘ would be awarded to Perygl’s Greg Fisher and the ‘Alan Smithee Award in Film and Media 2013‘ to our friend Cathrine Valmestadrød.
To tail things off we had a special show reel celebrating the entire Lampeter film and media history which you can see below.
After the end of the evening we had a special discotheque with DJ Sion Harris on the decks as many friends and colleagues danced away into the night on cheap booze and crisps.
We’d like to thank everyone for joining us on the night and everyone in Lampeter who has supported us over the 3 years we have been here studying. Remember to Like, Share and comment and check out this blog as well as our Facebook page, flickr and Youtube accounts and on Twitter @Peryglpro.
